Senior Care 101: Cognitive Health Boosters

Senior Care 101: Cognitive Health Boosters

One of the biggest health mistakes that any person could ever make is neglecting mental health. A lot of these people focus too much on their diet and exercise routine that they forget that their mental health also has the same needs. Understandably, these people may struggle to keep track of every health aspect that needs to be considered. This is even more challenging for seniors who are in need of housing support.

There is nothing wrong with focusing too much on physical health. However, this shouldn’t hinder a person from taking care of his/her mental health. After all, neglecting mental health has health consequences that could be as serious as other ailments and diseases.

Unfortunately, some mental health conditions don’t show manifestations until old age. This is one of the biggest struggles of patients in an assisted living facility in Minnesota and other areas. Some people have no idea that they are suffering from a mental health condition until they reach old age and get a diagnosis from a doctor.

To avoid the threats of mental health problems, it is ideal to strengthen one’s cognitive health as much as possible. One of the best ways to do so is through cognitive exercises. Don’t worry; it isn’t as strenuous as it sounds like.

Cognitive exercises could be in any form, such as games or other recreational activities. Basically, any activity requires cognitive function and mental stimulation.

Below is a list of fun cognitive exercises that are also perfect bonding activities.

  • Bingo
  • Puzzles
  • Board games
  • Card games
  • Arts and crafts

Try out these fun cognitive exercises at A Helping Hand Senior Care Services, a group home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  1. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is fantastic blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.
